Supporting roles across the horse and greyhound racing industry call for a broad foundation in stable, track and industry skills. RGR20221 Certificate II in Racing Industry builds the skills to work safely and effectively in racing under supervision, with the option to specialise as a stablehand, stud hand, track maintenance worker or racing administrator. It is a recognised entry point into a career in the racing industry.
This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for supporting job roles in the horse or greyhound racing industry. It allows for specialisation in stable hand (harness or thoroughbred), stud hand (breeding), track maintenance or racing administration.
Individuals with this qualification carry out routine tasks under supervision, where the work is predictable and structured with limited judgement required. Work must comply with the work health and safety and environmental regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.
Licensing or registration requirements apply to this qualification in some states and territories; check with the relevant Principal Racing Authority for current requirements.
There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Assessment is competency-based and combines theory with practical demonstration.

The qualification is made up of 14 units of competency: 4 core units plus 10 elective units. At least 7 electives are drawn from Groups A to E, with up to 3 from another endorsed training package or accredited course. Choosing all electives from one specialisation group awards the qualification with that specialisation noted, for example Certificate II in Racing Industry (Stablehand).
On successful completion you receive a nationally recognised Certificate II in Racing Industry.
